Brenner Wayne Schmitt

Brenner Schmitt is a dedicated trumpet player, educator, and arranger known for his commitment to musical artistry and his humble, earnest approach. Having earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Ken Edwards, Tim Ishii, Dan Cavanagh and Stefan Karrlson. Brenner's musical journey has been marked by commitment to excellence and genuine desire to improve and grow as a musician and educator.

In the realm of performance, Brenner has distinguished himself as a versatile and dynamic musician. His proficiency as a lead trumpet and solo trumpet player has been showcased beyond the UTA Jazz Orchestra, reflecting his deep passion for musical expression. Brenner has been a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth music scene, performing with esteemed ensembles such as the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, and Fort Worth Jazz Orchestra. His collaborations with Red Young & His Hot Horns, along with countless other groups, underline his adaptability for various jazz stylings. Throughout these experiences, Brenner has honed his craft, eager to grow and make his mark by blending the rich traditions of big band and Latin jazz with the energetic pulse of contemporary top 40 hits.

His experience extends beyond local performances, having brought his talent to the international stage through his time with Carnival Cruise Line. During his tenure, Brenner had the privilege of studying under the mentorship of Robert Slack and Dr. Ryan Chapman. Brenner showcased his expertise in a variety of playlist shows, including "Amor Cubano", "Vintage Pop", and "America Rocks". His outstanding contributions led to the selection for the post-inaugural crew for The Carnival Horizon and the inaugural crew for The Carnival Panorama, where he premiered the award-winning playlist shows "Rock Revolution" and "Broadway Beats". Brenner has also collaborated with multiple soloists, country duos, string trios, horn trios, rock bands, and latin bands while aboard demonstrating his adaptability and versatility as a musician and arranger. 

Brenner extends his musical expertise beyond performance, embracing the role of music educator with a commitment to fostering growth and appreciation for the arts amoung youth. In the diverse educational landscape of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, he teaches music and conducts band classesat multiple private and charter schools, engaging students from preschool through high school. 

With a focus on creating a supportive and challenging environment, Brenner tailors his teaching methods to accommodate the varied developmental stages of his students. His work in the classroom is characterized by a dedication to building foundational skills, encouraging creative expression, and instilling a sense of discipline and joy in musical pursuit.
